Roulette is played by rolling a small ball in one direction inside a wheel that spins in the opposite direction. After bouncing around inside the wheel for awhile the ball will come to rest in a slot on the wheel. This slot contains the winning number. Winning or losing at Roulette depends how you have bet prior to the spin. The game is one of pure luck as it is imposable to predict which number will win.
Roulette has many ways to bet. Here is a brief outline of the bets:
Inside bets (made on numbers directly inside the table layout):
One number bets - you are betting that a singe number (there are 37 or 38 numbers including 0 and 00) will win; pays 35 to 1.
Two number bets - you are betting on any two adjacent numbers (there are 62 groups of two); pays 17 to 1.
Three number bets - you are betting on one number out of a group of three numbers (there are 15 groups of three); pays 11 to 1.
Four number bets - you are betting on one number out of a square of four numbers (there are 22 groups of four); pays 8 to 1.
Five number bets - you are betting on one of the numbers 00, 0, 1, 2 or 3 to win (there is only one way to make this bet); pays 6 to 1.
Six number bets - you are betting on one number in two rows of three numbers (there are 11 sets of two rows); pays 5 to 1.
Outside bets (made indirectly on numbers in the area bordering the numbers layout):
Dozens - you are betting on one number of the numbers 1 to 12, 13 to 24 or 25 to 36 (there are 3 ways to bet); pays 2 to 1.
Odd or Even - you are betting that the winning number is even or odd, if 0 or 00 wins you lose (there are 2 ways to bet); pays 1 to 1.
Red or Black - you are betting that the winning number will be red or black, 0 and 00 are green, (there are 2 ways to bet); pays 1 to 1.
Column Bets - you are betting on one number out of an entire column of 12 numbers (There are 3 columns to bet on); pays 2 to 1.
