Baccarat has been described as so simple that even a small child would soon become bored with it. The excitement at a casino is not in the playing of the game, but in the betting. In casino's it is not unheard of for the bets on a single hand to reach thousands of dollars.
Rules govern all of the decisions that have to be made during the game. These rules have been worked out to give both the player and the house the best shot at winning their respective hands. Baccarat is one of the few games that don't penalize a player who is unfamiliar with the rules. In some cases the players haven't bothered to learn the rules leaving it up to the dealer to make the moves for them and tell them if they have won or not.
The dealer only plays with one player at a time. Anyone at the table can wager on either the player or the dealer to win.
The playing starts with both the dealer and player receiving two cards face down. Both of them look at their hand and then play according to the set rules. The rules are:

After this, a comparison between the two hands is made and the one with the value closest to 9 wins.
